NYFW Desigual Fashion Show Fall/Winter 2014
Andy Warhol's psychedelic paintings come to mind when I think about the Desigual fashion show. If I were to use words to describe the show, they would be along the lines of colorful, fun, and flirty.
The show reminded me of a small scale, fully clothed version of the Victoria's Secret fashion show with the amount of air kisses the models blew into the audience. VS angel Candice Swanoepel also opened and closed the show.
The first looks were overpowered with a heavy dose of large dot prints. The prints then took a turn into illusion like graphics and eventually tribal patterns.
It was the perfect show to start off Fashion Week because it brought a ton of energy. The backdrop at the end of the runway was a large illuminated heart. When the show began, the lights went out and the heart flickered to the sound of a loud heartbeat. When the lights went on and the music started blasting, the models came out smiling and practically skipping.
The look that stood out to me the most was a grey and black gradient wool pea coat with black lace peeking out from the bottom.
I was also obsessed with the gold thumbed knuckle gloves many of the models wore.
The finale walk was more like a dance party with the models spinning around, holding hands, and throwing little hearts at all the guests. It made you want to get up and join them.
People always ask about the Fashion Week swag. It is not what it used to be, but Desigual did gift everyone with an awesome laptop and phone case. Of course, I already use my custom phone case, courtesy of Casetagram, but it will be good if I ever want to switch it up.
Celebrities at the show included Karolina Kukova, Siva Kaneswaran of The Wanted, Jill Zarin, Adrienne Bailon from The Real, Jackie Cruz and Vicky Jeudy from Orange is the New Black, and Stassi Schroeder from Vanderpump Rules.
